Sisterhood
The design for this handwoven Tapestry was inspired by my friend Birch, who has taught me so much as she continues on her Trans journey. Despite many difficulties, she remains positive and uplifting. She has spoken to me about her desire to be fully included in the company of women; the Sisterhood of Women. Sisterhood, for me, is the loyalty and affection that women feel for other women; a deep and enduring commitment to other women’s well-being and success.
The figures in this tapestry depict my vision of Sisterhood; joyous uplifting; each figure touches another in linked community. The colour palette evokes the colors of the Pride rainbow to depict that acceptance is extended to all women, without judgement.
As a committed supporter of LGBTQ2 rights, I wish for Birch, as for all women, that they experience the love, support and acceptance from a true Sisterhood.

Excuse My Beauty
This functional piece of pottery was hand built and glazed with colours to represent a flamboyant style. The sculptured vase is further enhanced with a flower arrangement to simulate an elaborate headpiece.
We all have brief interactions daily with strangers. Usually people are quickly forgotten but then, there are those rare times when we are impacted by a stranger in a way that unexpectedly touches us. Several months ago I attended a Drag Queen Bingo fundraiser (Chilliwack Pride youth initiatives) hosted by Drag Queen performer Hailey Adler. My guess is Hailey does not remember me, but I will ALWAYS remember Hailey! Hailey’s positive energy, sincerity and openly genuine spirit has been the inspiration for this piece.

Diversity through Tradition
Pride Hoop is a circular weaving that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month. Using the colours of the pride flag, this artwork incorporates an embroider hoop, symbolling tradition and creativity.
By honoring the resilience and progress of the LGBTQ+ community, promoting acceptance and unity, we can all reflect on the power of tradition and the beauty of embracing diversity. Together let us celebrate.

Spirit Deity
The Deity represents the binding of gender evolving into fluidity.
Recently in the US, Target stores have received hostile backlash over stocking tuck, and binding clothing. This has moved me to create this piece which starts from the baby gender colours: binding and tucking of my handspun yarn, peeling back layers through the silk scarves. The disc represents allies. Target. Me.

Pick a side
Although we have General acceptance and can show Pride on the street there is still a stigma around bisexuality.
We really can’t say we are an all accepting Community when a bi woman is thought of by many to just be a straight girl wanting attention, down for non monogamy or a bi man is thought to be just gay and trying not to dip both feet in the water.
My personal experience is that unless my dating has been 50% girls and 50% guys I get targeted as faking it. It’s as if people think the dating pool is equally large and love just happens that way. It’s more insulting to go on a date and for it to be assumed that I’m down for some non-monogamous time.
Even now there are people that consider me as straight because I married a man. I’m still Bi and I’m still proud.

Take a hand, give a hand
A visualization of earth, surrounded by the atmosphere where rainbows reside
Rainbows include all the colours representing all kinds of people
Overlaid on the earth is depiction of puzzle pieces
Each puzzle piece locks together with the other pieces offering a hand and accepting a hand
Offering a hand and accepting a hand is love which holds us all together.

Wants and Wishes
Basically we all want and wish for the same things. Using the colours of the pride flag I tried to show the joys, and the hardships; hence the tears, of coming of age.

As Natural as Flowing Water
My view is that LGBTQ+ people in Princeton just flow with the town like the humble rivers flowing through it. The community is as strong as the mountains the town is surrounded by. As connected and part of the town as the wildlife we see everyday.
The sour apples of the bunch can be made to become part of something bigger in time, new saplings that grow new branches of wisdom. Everyone in town is here because they belong here. Right here, right now, at this moment we are exactly where we are supposed to be. Belonging and togetherness is what Pride is about and the town was built on that, still translates today in our little melting pot of a family.

Truly, Madly, Lesbian.
The girl on the left is Mei. She is an indigenous teen who grew up on the rez. In her past and present experiences, she realized that things happen and the only way to move forward is to accept herself. Mei had been crushing on a girl named Layla for a while, so she asked Layla out and during that time they shared this first kiss. All the overthinking the couple did the night before immediately was erased with a warm, prideful feeling that bursted around them like a pinata. Nothing matters because they have each other. No matter how different they looked, talked, felt or were. They were together, with pride.

Pride
This 12x12 collage/mixed media called Pride is a representation of the love and support within and outside the LGBTQIA2S+ community. The background is from the quotes from the LGBTQIA2S+ community that honours pride, love, respect and acceptance to be who you are. The eye is looking through a representation of the colours for LGBTQIA2S+. The heart also encompasses a representation of the colours that are depicted in the community's flag. This are pieces to show the beauty and culture that have come out of the difficulties for a person to be who they are.

Uniquely You
Each snowflake is uniquely beautiful, and its image communicates the uniqueness and beauty of every individual
The rainbow is the most international recognizable symbol of gay pride
As light passes through a snowflake crystal it refracts light and induces a spectrum of colour known as a rainbow
Nature (god) intended that each creation is in itself unique and beautiful and worthy of love.

It’s my life
I did this drawing as a reminder to myself of how my body is just fine as it is. That just as my life belongs to me, so does my body and my choices. That I don’t in any way have to fit into any boxes of how other people think I should live my life or how it should be.
I did this for the Pride Exhibition as I feel so grateful for the freedom I have here in Canada to marry my trans wife and live our lives freely and openly. But I also feel that this freedom is connected to many other freedoms - of choice that I will fight for if need be.

Radiance and Pride
"Two-Spirt" persons have always been looked up to and revered within the Indigenous communities. These individuals are respected due to the understanding that their perspectives and life experiences generally encompass a duality of feminine and masculine characteristics. Historically, Two-Spirit persons were often the healers, matchmakers, counselors, and chiefs.
Ribbon Skirts are beautiful garments which are primarily worn by Indigenous and Metis individuals. These skirts can have different purposes which vary between fashions, sacred ceremonies, as well as regalia pride.
Ribbon skirts can take many hours, and sometimes days, to complete and each creation is culmination of the designers inspiration and vision.
I created this Pride Ribbon Skirt out of admiration for all those I love, adore as family and friends who find their own ways to radiate the PRIDE in who they are!
