Joann Esselink
Entry#1 - Adult 2nd Place Medium: Acrylic on Copper If it where not for Covid, I would not have had the time to experiment with copper and the elements. I added to it to get the destressed colours I was looking for. It took about a month to clean the copper and another one to get the desired effect. The piece of copper was given to me for a Christmas present in 2020 by my daughter. The only point on the piece is the tree. Entry#2
Medium: Acrylic on Copper Spring as an abstract |
Karen Cummings
Entry#1 - Adult 3rd Place Medium: Collage, Fabric Title: Hungry Our family used to be separated by continents. Now we are separated by health regions. Not seeing family this past year has been incredibly difficult. Entry#2 Medium: Collage, Fabric, Paper Title: Keystrokes Social media friends are not as fun as dinner guests. I so miss seeing friends and sharing my work, even though I have had more time to create work. |

Entry #1 Medium: Canvas Painting/Acrylic Title: Purple Haze Purple/orange colours are considered coming colours. They help lighten your mood and can relax you. Entry#2 Medium: Canvas Painting Title: Home Grown I love gardening and I grow many different colours of sunflowers. These sunflowers were grown in my garden during 2020. Entry #3 Medium: Canvas Painting Title: Juvenile Golden Eagle I just adore birds and enjoy getting outside to photograph them. I sometimes enjoy painting what I saw. |
Sharron Basanti - Adult 1st Place
Medium: Watercolours The pandemic has left even those of us who are introverts craving humxn connection. I never thought that sipping on a cup of tea with another kindred soul at a café would become a privilege until Covid-19 struck. More than a year later, I still find myself holding a cup of tea as I gaze at my friends though a computer screen. I am grateful for the technology making these "tea dates" possible via zoom. I now see the world through another lens like many other people. I have slowed down...but so has the world, as these ordinary human experiences once take for granted, now feel extraordinary. |

Mackenzie Rubis - Child Tied 1st Place
Medium: Creative Writing My entry expresses my wish to write a fantasy like those of which I've enjoy. It stated when my 3rd grade teacher gave up an assignment "The thing in the sky". My story started as a two page short story and gradually grew into a novelette. The reason I have added in so many different creatures is because I am fascinated by dragons and other mythical creatures such as Sirens, a winged lion, and a witch. |
